I was fed up. Fed up with my hair breaking off. Fed up with it not growing past a certain length. Fed up with how plain I looked with relaxed hair. Fed up with how thin it was. Fed up with $60 hair appointments. Fed up with the straight styles only lasting a week. Fed up with spending $200 on a weave. Fed up with not liking myself because of my hair. Fed up with trying to conform to society. Fed up with looking just like every body else. Fed up with my hair! Period. So I stopped conforming and started learning. I went natural November of 2008 and I have been loving me every since.

How do men respond to your natural hair?
Men LOVE natural hair! According to Tariq Nasheed of Mack Lessons Radio, "women seem more confident when they rock their natural hair". Ladies! to men its sexy when you can walk out of the house with a head full of curls or a fro and still feel good and actually show it and know it. There's nothing like a confident woman!

How do women respond to your natural hair?
Women frown at my natural hair unless its all curly then they are like PhillyDiva19154 from YouTube says, "how did you get it so curly!". Honestly and truly if a woman just constantly looks and frowns at your natural hair or natural gray hair color. She either wants to go natural but is scared and doesn't want it to really look like "that" as they say or she is wondering what the heck is she doing out in public like that, or she loves your hair but doesn't have the courage to do you..yes I said do you. Either way no matter what she is thinking, at least you are no longer insecure about your self which makes you a lot more easier to get along with whether in a relationship or any where. I say this because you won't be worrying about your hair, instead you will be more in tune with your partner or the event at hand rather than worrying about if there is a strand out of place.

Do You consider it less expensive to maintain your hair naturally?
Less expensive! Salon visits are slim to none now that I am natural. $8 for a relaxers every 6 weeks is omitted which adds more money to my gas funds, Hallelujah! Thanks to YouTube, Long Hair Forum, Happily Natural day, and many other natural hair sites I don't have to run to any salon because I have learned to do almost every natural hair style my self, protective styles and all. I have also learned about natural hair products just by researching on the Internet alone!

Is it less time consuming to maintain your hair naturally?
It is more time consuming but guess what!! Natural hair styles can last for as long as 3-5 days or longer. Isn't that amazing! So yes it is more time consuming to style natural hair but at least you won't be flat ironing your hair every day or doing the same style over every day. Now me, I love love love styling my natural hair so I don't care about the time. I'm telling you I am IN LOVE with my hair now that I am natural. It's not always great days but when I take the time and patience my hair is really cute..I think..no I know.

What were the major obstacles you faced on your journey to going natural?
Looking ugly. When my relaxer would ware off I would look ugly so I thought. I would see the naps coming in and I would start to feel and look dingy so I thought. I just want you to know that relaxed hair that is due for a relaxer vs natural hair are two different looks for some. FYI relaxed hair that is getting "nappy" is nothing compared to natural 4b or any type hair. I think natural hair is so much pretier. I also worried about if my boyfriend would still be attracted to me. I don't worry about that today because if a man truly likes you for you on the inside, he won't care much about how you look on the outside. He will want you to take care of yourself but your natural hair won't bother him much if any.

What would be your definition of "going natural" ?
Going natural: Perm Free/Relaxer hair. Period. Or Going Natural: Permanent non-use of the creamy crack. You know you have given in to the love of kinks when you start calling relaxers "Creamy Crack".
